Children’s Liturgy of the Word
During most Sundays during the school year St. Raymond’s offer the Children’s Liturgy during the 9:00 am Sunday Mass. Just prior to the first reading, all children ages four to eight are invited to the sacristy where they will be met by a Children’s Liturgy of the Word minister to learn about the readings and the gospel in an age appropriate manner. This is a wonderful way for young children to begin a lifetime of religious education.
In order to be married at the Cathedral, couples must participate our marriage preparation program. Besides meeting with a priest to discuss necessary wedding preparation, the couple will need to attend the Initial Information Meeting/Pre-Cana Workshop. This workshop needs to be completed at least three months prior to the couple’s scheduled wedding date. A Sponsor Couple will contact the engaged couple to discuss their Foccus results. If you are newly engaged and desire to be married at the Cathedral or you and your spouse are interested in becoming a Sponsor Couple to help counsel and offer support to newly engaged couples.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church. The RCIA is intended for those who were baptized Catholic and did not receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation, those who were baptized in another Christian tradition and seek full communion of the Catholic Church, those not baptized who seek Christian initiation or for Catholics who would like an update in the understanding of the Catholic Faith. The RCIA process focuses on Scripture, Tradition, Sacraments, life in Christ and prayer forming participants in the Catholic way of life through mentoring, group discussion and sharing.
The Religious Education program is designed for children in grades 1st thru 8th who do not attend our parish school. We also offer our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for children ages 4 and 5. We believe our children need to know their Faith in order to live their Faith. When they truly understand what our Faith is about, they want to go out into the world and spread the good news through words and deeds. That is the goal of our Religious Education Program—we want our students to understand that following the teachings of the Catholic Church means they need to reach out to others. In our classes, students are encouraged to participate in outreach programs
Small Christian Communities
Small Christian Communities grow into "family" as they share life and become more like Christ. Small Christian Communities have been at St. Raymond’s for over twenty years. They are various groups that consist of friends, family and newcomers who gather together to share and encourage their faith and spiritual growth with one another. Usually the gathering is in a casual setting at someone’s home.
