Mrs. Baltz

Grade 1

After graduating many, many years ago from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Education, I began my teaching career as a second grade teacher at a public school in Romeoville.  After teaching there for only two years I became a stay at home mom for ten years to take care of my five children.  With all the children enrolled at St. Raymond (grades PreK-Fifth) I began teaching here at St. Raymond.  My experience here has included teaching grades five, three, and one.  This is now my 39th year at St. Raymond. I absolutely love teaching the little ones of first grade.  To see that sparkle in their eyes and the joy in their hearts is what keeps me going.  This year marks my 30th year of teaching first grade in this classroom.
My oldest grandson graduated from St. Raymond this past May.  I now have four other grandchildren attending St. Raymond.  They are the fourth generation of the Baltz family to attend this school.  Their great grandfather and great grandmother started first grade here in 1917 when the school opened. I am proud that my grandchildren are part of the wonderful tradition of this community.  I am also grateful that I have been able to be a part of this community to share my time and talents for so many years.
Since I have been here I have been honored as Teacher of the Year in 2004 when I received the Bishop L. Imesh Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Diocese of Joliet.  I was also one of the 17 teachers to be recognized as a Joliet Area Great Teacher in 2010.
When I am not busy teaching or preparing lessons you will find me spending time with my family and helping out with the grandchildren.
