We believe our children need to know their Faith in order to live their Faith. When they truly understand what our Faith is about, they want to go out into the world and spread the good news through words and deeds.

Little Way Offerings for Grades 1 - 6

Each Sunday when RE is in session, your child will have a Little Way Offering to complete in the spirit of St. Therese of Lisieux. Each dated offering card  includes a loving action for you and others. They gather a spiritual flower for Jesus every time they complete the action.

When you arrive for Mass stop at the Mary altar before finding your pew so that your child can place his or her completed offering card in the basket. Our Blessed Mother brings all of our good works (offerings) to Jesus. If you attend Mass at another Catholic parish, have your child return to RE with their card and a bulletin. If for some reason your family missed Mass, the offering is still important. Pack it in your child’s RE bag so that every child can add a flower to the spiritual bouquet we are making for Jesus. They will add a second flower to honor each time your family attends Sunday Mass.

REACH Program!
Do you know someone who is seeking religious education for a child with a disability?
REACH (Religious Education Apostolate for Christian Handicapped) is a program that welcomes children who want to feel a part of a faith community and want to learn more about God’s love.  The program meets twice a month on Mondays from 4:45 – 6:15. The REACH program helps students with disabilities play, work, and pray with others.  It teaches students that God loves, protects and provides for them.  The program is also able to prepare students to receive the sacraments.

For more information or to register, call Christine Pershey at the Cathedral of St. Raymond at 815/722-6653.

Adaptive Resources Available for Children with Special Needs
Resources are available to better adapt lessons for children with special needs. For more information regarding these adaptive materials visit, or contact Christine Pershey at

►Students typically make their First Reconciliation and receive their First Holy Communion in 2nd grade and Confirmation in 8th grade. If you child is older and has missed these Sacraments, please contact us prior to registering. Please Note:  The Diocese of Joliet requires children to have 2 years of Religious Education before receiving Sacraments.

Our catechists and volunteers are here because they want to share their love for children and of the Catholic Faith with the youth of St. Raymond.  Parents and families are encouraged to assist and attend the events we sponsor through the year. We are partners in the religious education of your children and look forward to your family joining our family.

If you are interested in volunteering on Monday evenings, please contact the Director of Faith Formation, Christine Pershey, at 815.722.6653 ext. 215.
