Mass Intentions

Changes to How We Offer Mass Intentions

Due to the ever increasing demand from parishioners to have Masses offered for family and friends, and a limited number of Masses available, we have decided to make some changes to how we offer Mass Intentions.

A Decree was issued by Bishop Conlon regarding the proper administration of Mass offerings within the Diocese of Joliet. The Decree took effect on March 5, 2017.

Stated in the Decree Bishop Conlon has requested that twice within each week, each parish is permitted to combine the intentions of more than one person at a particular Mass and that we no longer schedule Masses more than one year in advance of today’s date.

In order to respect the Bishop’s Decree and to accommodate our parishioners requests we will need to limit the number of Masses a person can offer. Some people plan ahead and reserve dates that are meaningful for their family member which is a beautiful way to remember them, but it leaves very few Masses available for people who have recently lost someone and would like to offer a Mass for them.

The suggested donation remains $10.00 per Mass.

Mass intentions can be emailed to, mailed to the Parish Office or placed in the Sunday offertory.

Please mark envelopes “Mass Intentions.”

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Wheaton at 815.722.6653 ext 213 or

It is an ancient Christian tradition for the faithful to give an offering to apply a Mass for their intention. In doing that, they also contribute to the good of the Church and they support her works and ministers.

We are happy to receive your personal intention request for a particular time and date.
If you would like to request a mass, please stop by the Rectory and see Mary Wheaton or you may contact her at 815-722-6653 ext 213 or

The offering for the Mass is entirely up to you. We recognize many of our benefactors are on fixed income, yet some people still want some idea of what to give.

The customary donation is $10.00 for each Mass.

Since we have a large number of Mass requests and limited Masses, please note, that the date and time you desire may have been taken by another person. However, you are welcome, and indeed you are encouraged, to attend Mass on that particular day and offer your personal intention privately.

Mass cards are available upon request.
