The tradition of an aisle runner was developed to protect a bride's gown when church floors were often dirty. That is hardy the case at the Cathedral. An aisle runner can present a hazard due primarily to the marble floors. For this reason, it is preferable not to have an aisle runner, but if you choose to have one, arrangements should be made with your florist to provide one. The length of the main aisle is 90 feet.
